See how all the Mad-ness began with this free e-book edition of the first issue. DC Comics

Yesterday's flash-drive giveaway met with some skepticism, and in hindsight I agree it was a little too much hoop-jumping for too little reward. That said, I still think cashback services are the bomb, and I hope you're able to put TopCashback or an equivalent to good use.

Today, I've rounded up some freebies that don't involve driving anywhere* or waiting on rebates. So keep that credit card in your wallet and read on!

*OK, one of the freebies does involve a trip to your local Target. But you were headed there anyway, right?

1. Mad Magazine
What, me worry? Not about this deal: Amazon is offering Mad Magazine #1 (Kindle Edition) for free, while Barnes & Noble is also offering Mad Magazine #1 (Nook Edition) for free.

Mad, of course, was that awesome satire magazine you read as a kid. This very first issue is more like a comic book, but you can see the foundations being laid.

2. 50 photo prints
Target charges 10 cents apiece for 4x6-inch photo prints. Order 50 of them and you'll be looking at a $5 total -- or not, if you print this coupon for $5 off the purchase of 50 photo prints. You will have to install a little coupon-printer utility, which is annoying, but you can always uninstall it later.

To use the coupon, you'll need to pick up your prints at your local Target.

3. DVD ripper

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum.

No freebie roundup would be complete without a DVD ripper, and this one is, to my thinking, among the best in its class. For a limited time, SharewareOnSale has WinX DVD Ripper Platinum (Win) for free. It's normally priced anywhere between $40-60.

As with a lot of ripper giveaways, this one is provided without updates or tech support. However, for a mere $9.99, you can get free updates for life and free tech support. Worth considering if you're big into ripping.

4. The sequel to a great iOS game

Cover Orange 2 is a weird little game with a weird name, but it's tons of fun -- and free today only!
Cover Orange 2 is a weird little game with a weird name, but it's tons of fun -- and free today only! FDG Entertainment

I thought the original Cover Orange was one of the most underrated puzzle games of 2011. Maybe the goofy name kept it from catching on.

In any case, the sequel debuted earlier this year, and for today only, you can get Cover Orange 2 (iOS) for free. It's only 99 cents the rest of the time, and well worth it, but free is free. Highly recommended!

OK, that's the last freebie for today. As always, feel free to share your own freebie finds in the comments!
