Want a free Samsung laptop with broadband but don't want to go with Orange? O2 will start offering pay-monthly broadband packages that include a Samsung netbook or laptop, wireless mobile broadband and fast home broadband, for various monthly price plans.

The two computers on offer are the Samsung NC10 -- a decent little 10.2-inch netbook with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard disk and Windows XP Home -- and the Samsung R510 -- a 15.4-inch laptop with a 2GHz Intel Celeron CPU, 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard disk, Windows Vista Home Premium and a DVD reader/writer.

A higher-spec Samsung R510 laptop with 3GB of RAM, 250GB of hard-disk-drive space and a better CPU will be available for a one-off charge of around £80.

Prices start at around £30 per month, inclusive of 3GB of mobile broadband, unlimited Wi-Fi at The Cloud wireless hotspots, and 300 O2-to-O2 text messages. For an extra fiver, you can get O2 home broadband bundled as well. Either the netbook or laptop are included in this deal.

Alternatively, for around £40, you get the same deal, but with 10GB of mobile data allowance. And, again for an extra fiver, you get O2's home broadband to boot.

If you go over your mobile data allowance, you'll be billed at a whopping-but-roughly-the-industry-standard 20 pence per megabyte. But sign up via Quidco and earn yourself a few tenners of cashback courtesy of O2's promotional department.

Both models will be on sale from 27 February.
