Free DSL Following up on our report of free Internet Access, several readers (including David Snedigar) informed us of a "free" DSL service: freeXDSL. A look at the agreement reveals that, in exchange for the free service, you agree to make the vendor your phone and cable TV provider, should they ever offer such services in your locale. Steve Sell adds: "You should also be aware of section 22 'Termination' - where the user agrees that, if you cancel service within the first 5 years, you pay them $500! Granted, if you are currently paying $50/mo for DSL, as long as you keep FreeXDSL for 10 months, you come out ahead, but it's still something people should be made aware of." Epson confirms Remote Access conflict Back in April, we reported on a crashing problem with Remote Access that appeared to be linked to Epson printer driver software. A MacFixIt reader was told by Epson tech support that they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution. They are not aware of any work-around (other than restarting the Mac). ATI Rage fan gone Back in February, MacFixIt covered reports of a noisy fan on some ATI Rage 128 cards in a G4. As noted in this MacFixIt Forums thread, it appears that ATI has removed the fan altogether from the version of the card that now ships with the G4.
