The jump-scare indie game series releases a teaser trailer for its fourth game. Shouldn't they call it 20 Nights at Freddy's by now?

One of the hardest things about being a gamer is having to wait for developers to bring you the next chapter in your favorite franchise. Just ask fans of Doom or Fallout what it's like to wait for the next installment and they'll tell you tales of woe and longing that sound like the plot of a romance film.

Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise haven't had that problem. Scott Cawthon, the indie developer behind the terrifying survival series about a group of killer animatronic entertainers, has been churning out a steady stream of sequels since he unleashed the first game on fans in 2014.

In fact, Cawthon's already got a fourth addition, set for release in August. He posted a trailer on his YouTube account Tuesday to tease fans with some quick, scary shots from the newest addition to the Freddy's family.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is expected to be released on August 8 on the anniversary of the first Five Nights at Freddy's game, followed by a "free update with extra content" on October 31, according to a vlog update from YouTuber Dawko posted on Sunday and a Reddit post on Monday showing an email received from Cawthon announcing the release dates.

According to the trailer, the new game will move the terror out of the restaurant chain with the nation's worst occupational safety hazard record for security guards and bring it to an even more terrifying place: the home. The teaser trailer features some sinister shots of an ordinary-looking house in the dead of night, with hints of terrifying creatures stalking the camera and just waiting for the perfect moment to jump out and raise your blood pressure by a few hundred points.

The fourth game is also being teased as "The Final Chapter," though that subtitle doesn't appear in the latest trailer. Plus, something tells me Freddy and his friends are going to be around for at least a little bit longer, and I'm not just talking about the fact that we may one day get a Five Nights at Freddy's movie since Warner Bros. purchased the film rights back in April. I'm talking about the dreams I'm going to be having where I'm being eaten alive by the Rock-afire Explosion at a Showbiz Pizza Place.
