New and notable in the MacFixIt Forums:

G4 upgrades The MacFixIt Forums thread on the G4 block of the G3/BW Macs has been quite lively over the past day or two. Messages suggest that a growing consensus in the rumor mill is that Apple will back off from its current position, and offer another upgrade that "unblocks" the G3/BW Macs. But it's still all rumor at this stage.

We've also added a couple of items to the Power Mac G4 MacFixIt Report, including info on new startup tones in the AGP Graphics G4 Macs.

L2 cache on 6500 blocks OS 8.6 According to a Forums posting, the L2 cache on some Power Mac 6500s can prevent installing Mac OS 8.6.

QuikSync crash confirmed by Iomega We've reported previously on errors when using Iomega's QuikSync. A Forums posting now states that "Iomega confirmed to me that the QuikSync product would not work with internal ATAPI/IDE Zip Drives."
