Valentine's Day is approaching, and we know what that means: another off-the-wall promotion from Uber.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be an "UberSKY" option on the app for users in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Dallas. If you get a confirmation, an Uber rep will call you and take down your message, which can be up to 12 characters long.
The splashy Valentine's Day promotion is part of a bigger MasterCard promotional campaign and costs $500. Like every other Uber promo, the demand for the service will probably be higher than the supply so you may have to try multiple times.
Alongside its on-demand skywriting, Uber is also trying to sweeten up its customers by partnering with ProFlowers for another promotion -- this time it's in all US cities where Uber operates -- where some Uber riders will receive a rose and a ProFlowers discount card during their rides.
Uber has done similar promotions before, including on-demand roses on Valentine's Day, Christmas trees in December, and, probably the most popular, adoptable kittens delivered right to your door. It's a peek into the company's vision for a world of instant gratification. Maybe one day, these won't just be promotions but regularly available services.
