With the winter holidays rapidly approaching, everyone seems to have baking on the brain. I'm already plotting which pies are on the docket for me this winter, and as the weather turns colder, big plates of lasagna are starting to sound mighty good.

While you think about what kinds of pies, casseroles and other baked dishes you might whip up, it's also a good time to make sure you have all the right equipment--ahead of time, of course, so you don't find yourself stuck at the last minute.

This flexible stainless steel spatula is pure genius. It's stainless steel and dishwasher safe. But it's flexible enough that you can, one presumes, gracefully slide it down the side of a baking dish and under the food, solving a perennial problem of serving baked goods: getting that perfect first piece is impossible.

This would be handy for brownies, lemon bars, cobblers, lasagnas or any number of other baked wonders. But I'd love to see a triangular one designed for pies. After laboring year after year to get pie dough perfected, the last thing you want is to have the bottom crust break apart because your serving utensils aren't gentle enough.
