Flash! Alsoft announces DiskWarrior

Notable news for Mac troubleshooters. From a press release:

Alsoft, Inc. has announced the upcoming release of DiskWarrior 1.0 in October. DiskWarrior will give Mac OS users worldwide the only method to eliminate damage to their HFS (Mac OS Standard) and HFS Plus (Mac OS Extended) disk directories. DiskWarrior will also optimize directories for maximum performance, thus speeding up overall disk performance.

DiskWarrior will give users a method to quickly rebuild, recover and optimize their disk directories, eliminating all directory errors that might exist and recovering lost files. DiskWarrior uses a radically different approach to resolving directory damage, where a new directory is rebuilt from the data in the old directory. This approach is similar to rebuilding desktop files, a procedure with which every Mac user is familiar.

"DiskWarrior is not a disk repair program in the conventional sense," said Al Whipple, Alsoft's president. "Instead of patching the original directory, it builds a new directory using data recovered from the original directory thereby recovering files and folders that were thought to be lost and that no other program could recover."
