This material is not mentioned in Troubleshooting Mac OS 8.6, although it does cover related issues with Mac OS 8.6 and fonts.

ATM and font bugs A thread in the MacFixIt Forums has some additional information on font problems, mainly related to Adobe Type Manager. Reg Pelle (who started this thread) received confirmation from Swedish Adobe Tech Support of at least one of these problems: the conflict between ATM and Adaptec's SCSI Probe (noted here at MacFixIt several times, starting back in February).

Work-around for ATR/QuickTime conflict After updating to QuickTime 4, Ron Davis found that Adobe Type Reunion was not longer grouping his fonts by font family. He found a work-around on the MacFixIt Forums: Launch QuickTime Player and leave it running while working in the applications with the problem Font menus. A posting in another thread confirms this. [Note: we have commented on this conflict previously and posted another suggested work-around.]

Update: Ron Davis adds: "After updating to QuickTime 4 (final), the problem with font menus has returned. The work-around worked in the beta, but not in the final, version."
