Spressa FireWire CD-RW and FireWire extensions Dan Costin writes: "The Spressa CD-RW FireWire drive does not work with FireWire version 2.4 or above. Sony has attempted to put a fix for this, but the file does not download properly." [See also this related item.] Update: Darrin Raposa found that this link gets you the desired fix file for the Mac (even though it is a zip-compressed file). Update: Paul Hookings counters: I use this burner with FireWire 2.5 on a B/W G3 400 MHz with no problems. I use the Sony Discribe 2.96 for my software." QPS FireWire CD-RW and Jam Bill Chadwell writes: "In trying to burn audio CDs with Adaptec Jam 2.6 on a QPS Que 8X4X32 FireWire CD-RW drive, the burner 'skips' during track transitions on about 60% of the disks I have created. According to Adaptec Tech Support, this problem has been traced to the burner being shipped with "older" firmware (although I've only had it two weeks). The version of firmware installed on my burner is 1.07." This sound similar to this previously reported issue. Que FireWire CD-RW and FireWire extensions Two readers (Gunni Grahn and Adam Karneboge) confirm that their Que FireWire CD-RW drives work with Apple's FireWire 2.3.x extensions but not the newly released 2.5 version. Oddly, Adam found that version 2.4 worked, Gunni found it did not.
