Finally! A bowl cats are allowed to sleep in

Summers in Japan are hot. Really hot. Thankfully someone has invented something that is thinking of the kittehs.

Some cats catch their zzz's by awkwardly plopping themselves in bowls, pots, and other similarly shaped containers, usually to the chagrin of their human companions.

Now, some genius in Japan has invented a bowl made just for kitties.

The invention is called Hie Hie Arumi Nyanko Nabe -- loosely translated to "Cooling Aluminium Kitty-Cat Pot" -- and while it looks like your average bowl, it serves another purpose. It's specially designed to offer our furry friends a cool spot to chill out in the hot summer months.

It's unclear how it works exactly, but that isn't stopping the product from selling out online, as people race to help their critters cope with the sweltering heat. It retails for 5,392 yen (roughly $52.63, £38.65, AU$56.48).
