FAXstf X released; fix for slowdowns?

CNET staff
FAXstf X 1.0, an OS X version of this popular fax software, was released last week. Here are two initial reader reports:

Paul Dunlop found that FaxManager runs in the background and nearly always uses 40% of my processor time. This makes the rest of my system so slow I've been forced to disable it for the time being."

Ken Beck similarly noted that the new FAXstf for OS X was running unusually slow. He checked Process Viewer and found that FAXstf was "using 75-80 percent of the CPU and memory." However he found a solution: "I opened the Login System Preference panel, moved FAXstf Toolbox and Fax Server to the top of the list, disabled Microsoft Database Daemon and iTunes Helper, and restarted. All is now well."

Overall, other reader comments on VersionTracker have been largely negative.
