FAXstf 5.1.1 oddities

While not everyone upgrading to FAXstf 5.1.1 is having these problems (which suggests that something beyond the update itself is involved), the update has been potentially linked to some very odd symptoms: Joseph Kriz writes: "After installing FAXstf 5.1.1, anything in my Startup Items folder no longer launches at startup. If I remove the STF folder from inside the System Folder and everything works properly." Lars Fitjar reports: "After installing FAXstf 5.1.1 on my FireWire PowerBook, I can no longer open the Fax Browser window. Under the Windows menu the software allows me to open Log File and Fax Numbers, but the other items are grayed out." Update: James Dwyer replies: "I had exactly this problem with the 5.1.1-Z International English version (which handles international phone numbers better), and resolved the problem immediately by trashing the preferences for STF. There must be a slight change in the way the preferences are stored." Michael Pliskin adds: "After installing the upgrade, the serial ports on my G3-upgraded 7600 were disabled. Also, there was no Page Setup item in the File menu of any of my programs. Removing the FAXstf folder from the System Folder restored all functionality. Booting from another drive (running Mac OS 8.6) also eliminated the problem." QuickTopic We have started a new MacFixIt Forums QuickTopic on FAXstf.
