Bethesda has announced the first details about Fallout 4 DLC. The publisher will offer a $30 Season Pass that comes with "all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do." Bethesda doesn't yet know what form this content may take, but one thing is for sure, you won't see it until 2016.

"Since we're still hard at work on the game, we don't know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass."

By comparison, Bethesda released five paid DLC expansions for Fallout 3. These were Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta. They all came with new quests, items, achievements, and more. You can probably expect the same from Fallout 4's DLC.

In addition to DLC, Bethesda says it is planning "regular free updates" to Fallout 4. As was the case for Skyrim, these will introduce fixes and new features alike. Some of Skyrim's post-launch new features, for example, were mounted combat, a kill cam, and a legendary mode, among other things.

"We'll work with all of you to figure out what new things you'd love to see added to Fallout 4, whether they are small tweaks or new features," Bethesda said.

The world of Fallout 4 will also continue to expand through mods. The game's Creation Kit--the same tool Bethesda's own designers use at the studio--will arrive on PC in "early" 2016, allowing people to make whatever they want. Some of these mods will then come to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 after that.

"The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that," Bethesda said. "Like all our previous games, we've made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development."

The Fallout 4 release date is set for November 10 across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

In other recent Fallout 4 news, Bethesda says it will not talk much more about the game's story in the lead-up to launch. In addition, Bethesda believes the game could end up outselling Skyrim.
