June may not have seen a massive number of games come out, but there were still plenty of titles that grabbed our attention and sucked up hour upon hour of play time. If you've got some spare cash and you're not sure what to spend it on, take a look at our top game picks for June for some hints.

Tekken 5: So good it hurts
Heading the charge is Tekken 5, which in our opinion is the best game in the series so far. If you've ever enjoyed a bash of Tekken in the past, then this latest version is sure to bring a smile to your face -- as well as possibly cramps in your hand due to too much playing. With an excellent single player mode, great multiplayer options, and outstanding extras (like the full arcade versions of Tekken 1, 2 and 3 included), this is one you'll be playing for months to come.

First person shooting fans certainly weren't left lacking this month, with several impressive titles appearing for both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The most outstanding was Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict, which oddly has quite a lot of third person perspective play in it. Nintendo fans also got some great new titles, including more Fox McCloud in Starfox Assault.

Tekken 5

Almost a decade after its debut of digital destruction, the latest installment of the Tekken series is here to wreak havoc on our senses. Tekken 5 ties up the loose ends from earlier releases and turns a great fighting game into the stuff dreams are made of.

Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict
Xbox
What do you get if you cross Prince of Persia, Soul Calibur and Quake, and then pump the volume up to 11? Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict. The game successfully brings the essence of fast paced deathmatches and frags to the Xbox, while adding enough innovation with melee combat and player acrobatics to push the genre into a new and exciting direction.

Starfox Assault
Nintendo GameCube
After being landlocked in his previous adventure, Fox McCloud takes the good fight back into the skies in Starfox Assault. Assault's chaotic space battles are a blast to play, and will impress you with the sheer number of ships and graphical effects on screen at the same time.

Area 51
PlayStation 2
Listen up tin foil hat fans -- Area 51 says the truth is out there, and when you find it, you'll probably want to shoot it. Area 51 is a decent challenge for action junkies, and is a great addition to the PlayStation 2's limited first-person shooter list.
