If an Antarctic expedition has long been on your bucket list, it's now easier than ever to see some spectacular imagery from the southernmost continent. There are a couple of interesting areas to highlight, including Robert Falcon Scott's hut — better known as Scott of the Antarctic. Animal lovers will want to make a beeline for the Cape Royds Adélie Penguin Rookery.
The imagery is part of Google's World Wonders Project, through which you can explore the sights of some of this planet's most spectacular locations.
This past year has been a busy one for Google's mapping tools, with users getting a peek behind the special Street View backpack rig that is used to capture areas inaccessible to vehicles. There's also been the Catlin Seaview Survey, which helps users explore the underwater world using Google Earth and Maps.
