Ex-Excite@Home CEO lands new post

Former Excite@Home Chief Executive George Bell has been named CEO of Upromise, a site that lets people save a percentage of their shopping purchases for college tuition. Bell replaces founder Michael Bronner, who will retain his title as chairman. Bell made his mark initially as the CEO of Excite.com, which was later acquired by cable Internet service provider @Home. Bell left Excite@Home in April after appointing Patti S. Hart, the former CEO of Telocity, as his successor.
