Epson 850 driver (available in UK but not in US) fixes Epson conflicts

Yet one more report on this continuing issue:

Tom Ritch and Gregory Brinkley inform me that there is a an Epson Stylus Color 850 printer available in the UK. The Epson UK web site has a driver for this printer available: SC850.HQX, version 5.1A. He tried using this driver with his Epson 800 printer. It appears to have fixed the problems with Netscape (as covered here before). It also adds page layout options for: fit to page, watermarks, print layout (n-up) and print order. Tom adds: "My preliminary tests indicate that using the SC 850 driver allows printing without causing Nisus Writer to crash" (such as when cutting selected text with the Epson 800 selected in the Chooser). The 850 driver is not yet available at Epson's U.S. site, where the current version is still 5.04A.

Installation advice on this matter: After installing the 850 serial driver package: Remove the old Chooser Extension SC800. In the Extension folder, Epson Folder, Option Folder 5: remove the Stylus Color800 Library and Template. In the Extension folder, Epson Folder, Utility Folder: remove the UT2Stylus Color800 file. If you are using ColorSync 2.5: Remember to move the SC850 ColorSync profiles from "System Folder/ Preferences/ ColorSync Profiles" to System Folder/ColorSync Profiles."
