Entry-level LG Snapshot rumored for Q4
Closely resembling the Optimus L7, this LG smartphone may end up on a no-contract carrier.
Details of an LG "Snapshot" have found their way online this week suggesting that Sprint, or one of its postpaid partners, will offer the handset later this year. Features for the smartphone reportedly include a single-core 1GHz CPU, 768MB RAM, 4GB storage, and a 5-megapixel camera.
Somewhat thin with an 8.8mm chassis, the LS730 also offers a front-facing VGA camera, a 1,700mAh battery, and microSD card slot. The exact type of display the phone will use is unknown, but its expected 800x480-pixel resolution leads me to believe it will hover somewhere around 4 inches in size. The device actually reminds me of the Android 4.0-powered L7 unveiled at Mobile World Congress back in February.
I do see two notable omissions in the Snapshot. Given that its rumored specifications suggest a lack of NFC or 4G LTE connectivity, it stands to reason that this may ultimately become a Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile device. The hardware, which would fit better in the midrange of a no-frills no-contract carrier, would look practically antiquated in Sprint's lineup. According to the source of the speculation, BriefMobile, the Snapshot won't come to market until the fourth quarter.
