Entourage and Explorer conflict? Several readers (including Alain Pilon) confirm that if you click a URL link in Entourage, Explorer will crash on launch (if it has already been launched, no crash occurs).< various work-arounds have been offered, but none seem to assure success. Of note, Todd Young found: "When I replaced IE 5 with the version provided on the Office 2001 CD-ROM, it worked like a champ." [See also previous coverage.] Update: Office 2001 available now Microsoft's Web page still implies that Office 2001 will not be released until October 19. However, Microsoft has informed us that, while October 11 is actually the official release date, units are already appearing in the "channel." This has been confirmed by several readers who have seen Office 2001 at CompUSA. Game Sprockets version removed Apple Computer has withdrawn the English-International version of Game Sprockets 1.7.5, but not the English-North American version. No explanation was given. According to reader reports, the reason is that the International version was mistakenly still the U.S. version and refused to install on International systems. Toast 4.1.1 verification glitch? Harvey Rubinstein found that, when burning a CD in ISO 9660 format, Toast 4.1.1 gives an error during verification that some sector is unreadable. However, he has never detected any problem with the CDs. Update: Bob Eller did not have this problem. iMovie 2.0 export bug? Mark Adams found an apparent bug in iMovie 2.0.1. He writes: "When you export a movie to a DV camera, iMovie starts the camera recording about a second before it actually starts playing the movie. As a result, you end up with 1 second of blank screen (blue screen on my Sony TRV8) at the beginning of every export. It makes it impossible to export two movies back to back with a seamless transition. iMovie 1.x did not do this." Update: David Page writes: The dialog box that comes up when you export allows you to set the amount of black space before and after the movie is exported." GoMac and ATI conflict Brion McCarthy describes a potential conflict on his new Graphite 466 iBook: "The iBook came with an updated version of the ATI Driver Update. It appears to conflict with GoMac 2.03. The symptom is not waking from sleep. In fact, when putting the computer to sleep the screen goes black and the sleep light never begins pulsing. The only way out is to use the three key force reboot. Disabling GoMac eliminated the symptom." Several other readers have now confirmed this. Pro keyboard and function keys bug? A reader found that, with his new iMac DVse with a Pro keyboard, pressing any function key that is not assigned a specific task caused the iMac to crash - if he logged in via Multiple Users for any user other than the "owner."
