KGA Technical Support informs us that they "have finally tacked down and fixed a couple of painful intermittent bugs that have plagued our product and some of our customers since the XPress 4.1 shipped." [See our previous coverage of the Quark and EPXT -35 error, one and two.]

Koyosha Graphics of America has recently posted new product updates for their commercial and freeware QuarkXTensions software for QuarkXPress 4.04, and later. Enhance Preview XT 2.1.4 revision 5 (Mac) and EPXT-Special Edition 2.1.4 revision 5 (Mac only) are now available for download.

The EPXT 2.1.4r5 update fixes a serious problem introduced with QuarkXPress 4.10 and 4.11 that caused: 1) The error message "Can't find required volume or folder [-35]" to be displayed when trying to save a document; and 2) The error message "File not found [-43]" to be displayed when updating pictures listed as Missing or Modified in the Usage dialog box and when saving a document.

In addition, this update improves display and printing of clipped images (when printed to a non-PostScript printer, such as an ink jet) and fixes a bug that caused a vertical line to be displayed at the right edge of some grayscale and bitmap images.

Important Note: KGA strongly recommends users of QuarkXPress 4.11 to download the 411FixIt XTension from Quark, Inc. to avoid any further conflicts or problems.
