Elon Musk demoted from turkey line on 'Big Bang Theory'

Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.

As we lurch toward the season of being slightly more human than normal, we try and show our most pleasant side.

And so it is that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has put aside his drive to create the perfect car for the environment (of Silicon Valley) and revealed that he works in a homeless shelter on Thanksgiving.

Alright, it's a fictional homeless shelter, but this is "The Big Bang Theory," so suspend your disbelief.

Musk appeared on the show on Thursday night. (Disclosure: CBS is CNET's parent company.)

When he's first spotted by Howard Wolowitz -- a former spaceman himself -- he's washing the dishes in a homeless shelter.

"I was on the turkey line, but I got demoted for being too generous with the gravy," he explains.

Wolowitz feels the need to show off about his time on the International Space Station. To which Musk dryly offers: "And I thought I ladled the gravy on thick."

And then the inevitable happens: Wolowitz asks Musk to adopt him. He gets the next best thing: Musk's e-mail address. After all, as Tesla itself announced with propitious timing on Friday, it needs more engineers.

Of course Wolowitz would rather be in the Space X program, but perhaps he could slum it with cars for a while before re-entering space.

For Musk, this is surely a perfect opportunity to use one of the TV's most popular shows to advertise his company and its ambitions -- to the perfect audience.

I wonder how many engineers, on watching this episode, thought to themselves: "I want to work for him." I suspect quite a few.

Moreover, they surely know that if they went to Tesla and it didn't work out for some reason, they'd almost be guaranteed a job at Apple. Or, at least, that's how Musk presents it.
