Earthlink reports record results EarthLink has announced its financial results for its
third quarter ending September 30, 2002.. The company reported that revenues grew to $340.7 million in the quarter, an increase of 6.8 percent from the same period a year ago. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were $22.4 million, improving from $1.5 million a year ago. During the quarter, EarthLink's broadband business grew by 77,000 subscribers, ending with 681,000 broadband customers, a 67.7 percent increase from the prior year quarter. More.

WiebeTech unveils forensic DriveDock WiebeTech's latest storage device has debuted. The Forensic DriveDock, a write blocked FireWire bridge. The bridge is designed for forensic analysis of IDE data storage devices, especially for law enforcement and criminal investigation marketplaces. It allows data to be read from drives without risk of writing data back to the drives. The new device uses the Oxford OXFW911 FireWire bridge, and is priced at $250 including an AC adapter. More.

Dell does away with Floppy Though Michael Dell harshly criticized Apple for dropping the floppy drive from its original iMac in 1998, his company has now embraced the floppy-less strategy. Dell will offer a 16MB version of the USB Key device in place of a floppy drive for customers who opt to pair it with one of two Inspiron notebook models. The device uses flash memory and works by plugging into a PC's USB port. More.
