Earthlink High Speed Wireless Internet Access also lacks Mac support

CNET staff

We previously reported that Earthlink's new digital music service is currently available only for Windows systems, and the company currently has no plans to release a Macintosh compatible version.

It now seems that Earthlink may have also scrapped the idea for Macintosh-compatible high speed wireless access. Originally Apple had posted a link to Earthlink Wireless (late 2002), and EarthLink had a disclaimer "Mac support coming soon," with an estimated ship date of early 2003.

Users who attempt to sign up for the service are now presented with the following message:

"Thank you for contacting Earthlink Wireless High Speed. Currently, we do not offer service for the Macs, but we do plan to offer that in the future. Currently, we are in the testing phases of the Mac client and plan to release the software in the next month or so. Unfortunately, no release date has been set, but we are working out all of the kinks so that we can offer the service to Mac users as soon as possible."
