DVD Playback Update 4.6.1 (#2): Version number still shows 4.6; Screen artifact bug fixed

CNET staff

Version number still shows 4.6The DVD Playback Update 4.6.1 released last week only upgrades Framework components of the application, leaving the the creation date, date modified and the application version number unchanged.

You can check both your Framework and Application version numbers by selecting "About DVD Player" from the DVD Player menu. The application version should remain at 4.6, while the framework version should show 4.6.1 if you have correctly downloaded and installed this update.

Screen artifact bug fixed Meanwhile, MacFixIt reader Nick Howes reports that this update resolves an issue with screen artifacts previously reported here on MacFixIt.

Nick writes:

"This update fixed a problem that I was having: 'I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.1 on a G4 Sawtooth 500MHz with an ATI Radeon 8500 and an ATI Radeon 7500. I also have an original DVD-RAM drive. No problems with DVD's except when using DVD Player 4.6 - the window has lots of green artifacts when displayed on the 8500, but works perfectly when displayed on the 7500.'"
