With its expected high-end specs -- a, quad-core processor, and 2GB RAM -- I thought the Droid DNA's entry price would be higher, especially since the 5.5-inch quad-core LTE debuts for a $300 minimum.
Of course, the"phablet" debuted for $199 at launch as well, though it isn't as high-end as the Note 2.
Verizon also hasn't shied away from the $229-$249 price range for some of its higher-end devices. For instance, the Droid Razr Maxx HD fetches $299 with a contract.
CNET contacted Verizon, which declined to comment on the unannounced device.
