Downloading broker transactions in Quicken: a follow-up

Recently we have posted reader reports of problems with< various broker's Mac support, especially with downloading transactions (see one and two). Lee Heiman has something a little different, a success story. He writes:

"I have seen the comments about Quicken and E*Trade not working together. I also know from personal experience that a lot of brokers do not provide much support for downloading and importing transactions into the Mac version of Quicken.

At present, I have two active brokerage accounts - Quick & Reilly (which used to be SureTrade, and R.J. Thompson Securities.) I have found E*Trade too expensive, and Datek could never could get their streamer working for the Mac. As with other brokers, Q&R does not accommodate getting data easily into Quicken.

However, rjt.com works very well on my Mac. I frequently go to the history section of my account, select a start date, and download a QIF file. Once the download is complete, its easy to open the account in Quicken and import the QIF file. It works for me every time and is very simple. Best of all, rjt only charges $5 per transaction.

Overall, I have been very pleased rjt.com's site. Given that most of the financial world does not support Macs very well, the few that do a good job deserve to be applauded for it."
