Marvel's upcoming superhero movie "Doctor Strange" stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a former medical doctor named Stephen Strange who goes on a mystical journey and ends up learning magic that can save humankind.

But what about the characters who both train and challenge the doc?

In an exclusive sneak peek posted Tuesday on YouTube, the characters that surround Strange finally have their moment in the spotlight. More information is revealed about Karl Mordo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and the Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton.

"Mordo is certainly the intro to Doctor Strange entering this universe," Ejiofo says in the video. "Mordo is very close to the Ancient One."

"She deals in magic," Swinton adds of her character. "Real proper inner magic."

Fans also get more background on Mads Mikkelsen's mysterious character, Kaecilius. "We're excited about the villains in this film," producer Kevin Feige says. "We call them the Zealots. These are people who become seduced by what they find on the other side."

"Kaecilius is part of this temple," Mikkelsen says of his character. "If the majority is looking for the truth here, he's looking over there for the truth."

In the Marvel comics, Kaecilius is a disciple of Baron Mordo who's sent to kidnap the Ancient One, and later Doctor Strange. However, it's anyone's guess how closely the movie will mirror the original comic.

"Doctor Strange," directed by Scott Derrickson, opens October 27 in Australia, October 28 in the UK and November 4 in the US.
