DoCoMo brings i-Mode to Russia

NTT DoCoMo has brought its i-Mode service to Russia, further expanding its geographic footprint. The service is available through Mobile TeleSystems in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

The Japanese telecommunications carrier is in the midst of a push to license i-mode, which allows users to access the Internet and in some cases pay for things like subway tickets, to carriers around the world. A number of major carriers in Europe and Asia offer i-Mode service already.

Russia is one of the four fastest growing major markets in the world for technology right now. The other so called BRIC nations are Brazil, India and China
