Apple Computer said Wednesday it has struck a deal that will allow its iTunes Music Store to carry the soundtracks to classic Disney films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. The collection, which also includes Disney/Pixar releases such as Toy Story, will be exclusive to iTunes through Sept. 30.

"Now iTunes users can add these timeless Disney songs to their music libraries and enjoy them wherever they go on their iPods," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. Disney, which has had a rocky relationship with Jobs and Pixar of late, said it was pleased with the deal. "This is the next logical step in (Disney's) continuing efforts to reach the music consumer directly," Bob Cavallo, chairman of Disney's Buena Vista Music Group said in a statement. "We're happy to be in business with Apple."
