DiskWarrior 3.0.3: Problems using as startup disk; Persistent crashes

Earlier this week, Alsoft released DiskWarrior 3.0.3 which boasts Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) compatibility.

Problems booting from DiskWarrior 3.0.3 burned startup CDs Several users are reporting problems starting up their systems with burned CDs containing the new release.

Gray Tait writes:

"I have upgraded my CD to 3.0.3 but I notice it will not start up my G5 Imac. Have you had any other people report this."

Another reader writes:

"I had no problems burning. But the new CD doesn't boot, but goes into a kernel panic and says we are hanging here. Running a brand new 15" powerbook with 1 GB ram."

Crashes when attempting to run from startup volume Meanwhile, a number of readers report persistent crashes when attempting to run the application itself when contained on a Mac OS X 10.4 startup volume.

Rod Hagen writes:

"In my case, the update ran fine from the CD for me when sorting out the internal (Tiger installed) drive on the PowerBook G4 12".

"I then attempted to run it from my PowerBook's internal Mac OS X 10.4 drive over my LaCie external (which has Panther installed on it). DiskWarrior hung (prior to completing the directory scan) and wouldn't force quit. I fired up Safari (with DiskWarrior still hanging) and my email to see if I could find any screaming in the wilderness from people who had similar experiences. I couldn't, and quit Safari, checked my email, and then headed back DiskWarrior to see if anything happened to have changed. It hadn't except that it now was wearing the Safari menu bar instead of its own.

"I rebooted, repeated the process as an experiment, and suffered the same fate. [...] This is definitely one to be used only from CD for the moment."
