DHL tapping Manugistics for software

Express shipping services company DHL said Thursday that it would use software from Manugistics in its European operations to help set prices and plan aircraft routes and schedules. The Manugistics software crunches financial and aircraft utilization data to identify ways the company can cut costs and increase revenue by adjusting prices and reducing or expanding services on various routes. DHL, which competes with FedEx and United Parcel Service, operates 250 aircraft for service in 230 countries. Other companies using the software include Delta Air Lines, Hertz, Marriott and Princess Cruises.
