Deleting printer software eliminates Print Center crash

Whenever David Schwartzstein attempted to "Add a Printer" via Print Center, the application would unexpectedly quit. If he selected to Print in an application, and opened Print Center from the Print dialog box, the same thing would occur. He writes:

Finally, I opened up Console.app, and when I recreated the crash in the Print Center, the console referenced an error relating to some file in the path /Library/Printers/Canon. Since I don't have a Canon printer, I simply threw that Canon folder away. "

He later reinstalled the Canon software and the problem did not come back. Perhaps the initial copy had become corrupted.
