Deal roundup: i3-powered laptop, free software, cheap MP3 player
Why settle for one deal when you can get four? See if you can guess which one is my favorite.
I couldn't decide on a single deal today, so I thought I'd shake things up and bring you four of them.
1. Most bargain-priced laptops I see these days have fairly outdated processors, which are sufficient for everyday computing, but are pretty wussy overall. CompUSA has a new Acer Aspire AS5740-5255 15.6-inch laptop for $549.99. It's powered by Intel's thoroughly modern Core i3-330M processor and has 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a spiffy blue shell, and Windows 7. That's a lot of laptop power for the price.
2. Speaking of bang for the buck, Dell has an 8GB Sandisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 player for an unheard-of $39.99 with free shipping. This little MP3 player is awesome for the gym, jogging, and other athletic activities. It has an FM tuner, a voice recorder, and an expansion slot in case your music library surpasses 8GB. It's a crazy-good deal, and one that definitely won't last.
3. AnyBizSoft has a pretty nifty freebie: You can get PDF to Word Converter 3.0, normally $29.99, free by "liking" the company on its Facebook page. (You also need to supply your name and e-mail address.) This is definitely a worthwhile tool for any business user.
4. Today's Giveaway of the Day is Ashampoo Photo Commander 7, a powerful photo manager and editor that normally costs $39.99. But wait, there's more: Ashampoo is also running a Priceline-style "you name the price" promotion for all its products. There's no guarantee the company will accept your offer of, say, $5 for its $50 Ashampoo Burning Editor 10, but it's worth a shot.
