Custom paper sizes with Epson, Canon printers in Mac OS X

CNET staff

As noted by the following statement on Epson's Web site:

"Some printing features are not supported in Mac OS X, including custom paper sizes, banner printing, booklet printing, and watermarks. ColorSync color matching may produce unexpected results when printing to any raster printer.

and Canon's Web site:

"This driver does not support the banner and custom paper printing supported by the Mac OS 9 printer driver."

users cannot print to custom papers sizes in Mac OS X using Epson or Canon printers. To clarify, you can print to custom paper sizes built into the print driver - for instance, 4x6 - a common paper size manufactured by Epson and Canon. But if you want to print to 6x6 or 3.75x9, no option. You can set up the paper in Page Setup, but upon printing it reverts back to letter, mis-aligning the print on the page.

This issue has been on-going for several months now, and we are awaiting responses regarding renewed requests for support from both Canon and Epson.
