Watch this: LG updates L series with Android KitKat trio

Prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless announced today that it will be offering the LG Optimus L70 beginning on Friday, June 6. Priced at $99.99 without a contract, the device will be sold for $49.99 at launch for a limited time, after users send in a mail-in-rebate.

Already available for MetroPCS, the L70 is a midrange handset that runs Android 4.4 KitKat. It includes signature LG software tools such as Qslide, a multitasking app feature, and KnockCode, which enables users to unlock their phones using a customizable tapping code.

The device is equipped with a 4.5-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and a removable 2,100mAh battery that has a reported talk time of up to 15 hours.

As for its camera chops, it has a 5-megapixel camera and a front-facing VGA shooter. Additional features include 4GB of internal memory, up to 32GB of external memory, and 1GB of RAM.

The L70 is part of LG's trio of L-series 3G handsets that debuted this year at Mobile World Congress. Other family members include the ultracompact L40 , which sports a 3.5-inch display and a 3-megapixel camera, as well as the L90 . The Optimus L90 is available for T-Mobile and has a 4.7-inch display and quad-core processor.
