Convergence is all well and good, but a few manufacturers go too far. That includes Taser International, a US company that has combined an MP3 player with a taser. The C2 Taser, also nicknamed the 'iTaser', lets you enjoy a healthy, music-filled exercise regime, safe in the knowledge that you can fry your personal trainer would-be attackers with many a volt.

The MP3 player is actually built into the C2's accompanying holster. This comes with 1GB of flash memory so you can store approximately 250 MP3s. When you get bored of listening to Britney or become enraged by your collection of hardcore gangsta rap, you can flip a little switch on the front of the C2, expose the laser light, take aim at your target, and hit the trigger. It fires two small probes at speeds of up to 48 metres per second, which once they attach to your victim's body, can deliver a 70,000 volt electric charge, causing instant neuro-muscular incapacitation.

But forget the theory and watch the video. It shows us roping in some innocent bystander, holding him down and tasering the living bejeezus out of him. If you've ever wanted to see a grown man cry, now's your chance! -Rory Reid
