Communicator and StuffIt Deluxe 5.5 MIME type problem: a follow-up

Last time, we posted one work-around for solving MIME-related problems with Communicator and StuffIt Deluxe 5.5. A few readers found that it did not work for them. If this happens to you, here is another one to try (at your own risk!):

1. Launch Netscape.
2. Open the Preferences dialogue box and choose the Applications section.
3. Delete the MIME types attributed to StuffIt Expander (Macintosh Binhex will not allow you to delete it, that's OK).
4. Quit Netscape.
5. Open your Netscape users folder in the Preferences folder.
6. Find the User folder that is attributed to your Profile (usually labeled with your name), and open it.
7. Find the Netscape Preferences, and throw them in the Trash (don't worry, you will not lose your bookmarks).
8. Now remove any of your older StuffIt Expanders, and keep only Version 5.5.
