CNET Predicts New iBooks Following a mis-advertisement on Apple's Web site that apparently revealed the pricing structure on soon-to-be-released iBook and PowerBook G4 models. The iBooks will purportedly range in price from $999 for a 700 MHz model sans combo drive, to $1599 for an 800 Mhz model with a combo drive. The CNET report states "Availability of current iBook and PowerBook models at Apple's online store has been pushed out. Late last week, shipping times increased to three to five days, from one to two days earlier in the week." More.

Microsoft "got away with it" An eWeek article surmises that Microsoft essentially got away with breaking the law. "In short words, the company broke the law--and got away with it. It's been a while, I know, since the Court of Appeals upheld the original trial's Findings of Fact, sending only the question of appropriate remedy back to the lower court for reconsideration. But as I noted at the time, one of the crucial questions was whether Microsoft could freely stifle potential competing technologies without abusing its monopoly powers." More.
