It was gearing up to be the sale event of 2012. But when Click Frenzy launched its sale on 7 November — where major Australian retailers were offering massive discounts — the site took all of about 30 seconds to crash horribly, brought down by the massive crowds of bargain-seeking Australians.

Now the site has made a return, and is determined to make its sales events rival the US's Black Friday and Cyber Monday, claiming to have put measures in place to combat traffic demands:

"That fateful day is well behind us, and the coverage of the crash drew attention away from the true story of Click Frenzy — that it was Australia's biggest day of online shopping," the website says. "We've listened, we've learned and we have been working extremely hard to put right any wrongs."

Details of how the wrongs have been righted are thin on the ground, but the website is certainly ambitious, with several sales scheduled for the year ahead: a Mother's Day sale, launching at 7pm on 23 April; an End of Financial Year sale, launching at 7pm on 25 June; a Father's Day sale, launching at 7pm on August 13; and an eCarnivale sale, launching at 7pm on 19 November.

Participating retailers have yet to be announced, but Click Frenzy promises bargains in pretty much any category you can think of. You can sign up for updates here.
