Chemical exchange enlists WebMethods

WebMethods, which develops enterprise integration software, nabbed Elemica as a new customer. Elemica, an online marketplace for the chemical industry founded by heavyweights such as Dow Chemical and DuPont, said it will use WebMethods? flagship business-to-business integration software to help tie together disparate applications from participating members. With WebMethods? suite of integration applications, Elemica is hoping to drive savings by tightly linking its customers? back-office systems and procurement systems with the online marketplace. Other investors in the marketplace upstart include BASF, Bayer, Shell, Mitsubishi Chemical and others. WebMethods, based in Fairfax, Va., provides its software to other existing marketplaces such as ForestExpress and PetroCosm.
