Watch this: HTC Evo Shift 4G

LAS VEGAS--Sprint and HTC got a head start on CES 2011 Tuesday when they announced the long-awaited HTC Evo Shift 4G. We tracked the handset down today and gave it the full photo treatment. And even better, Sprint let us take away a review unit.

As Sprint's third 4G smartphone, the Evo Shift 4G joins the earlier HTC Evo 4G and Samsung Epic 4G in supporting the carrier's WiMax network. It also doubles as a mobile hot spot for up to eight devices.

The Evo Shift 4G has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.6-inch capacitive touch screen. It runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) with HTC Sense and offers a loaded feature set that includes a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture, an HTML browser, Wi-Fi, a microSD card slot, messaging and e-mail, stereo Bluetooth, the usual Android apps, a music player, and a 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor.

The HTC Evo Shift 4G will be available starting January 9 for $149.99 with a two-year contract. We'll double back in the next few days with a full review, but you can check out our hands-on photos until then.
