LAS VEGAS--People who get tired of holding their iPhones during a lengthy call or who struggle trying to snap a picture of themselves, may find a helping hand (or arm) with a new tripod kit designed for smartphones.
Equipped with a small tripod or monopod and socket, the Quik Pod can hold a smartphone, digital camera, camcorder, or other device with a standard fitting, allowing for hands-free use during phone calls and when snapping photos or videos.
Available from the folks at Fromm Works and being demoed this week at CES, the Quik Pod can also extend the reach of your device to grab photos that you couldn't get otherwise. It can also shrink back into its smaller state, allowing you to carry it around on the go.
The Quik Pod comes in a variety of kits and configurations, starting at $19.95 for the basic edition and ending up at $69.90 for a pricey Pro DSLR model.
The Quik Pod series is available online at the company's Web site. U.S. consumers can also pick it up at Amazon, J&R Computer World, B&H Photo, and Adorama, while those in Canada can purchase it at Henrys. For European customers, the two official distributors are Kaiser Fototechnik and Shakama Grupo Empresarial S.L.
