CD tray eject on restart linked to third party keyboard

Bart Windrum had the problem with his CD tray always opening on restart (making it impossible to start from a CD) on his new Power Mac G4 466MHz. We had previously reported this problem linked to Apple's latest firmware update. However, in Bart's case, the symptom only appeared when he was using a third party keyboard - an Adesso Tru-Form - not Apple's keyboard.

Update: David Burkhalter and Thomas Wilson report that the Griffin iMate USB/ADB adapter may also cause this symptom.
