Castlewood says not to use current ORB software; wait for next updates

Regarding our continuing coverage of ORB Tools (see previous item):
Sean Collins received the following reply from Castlewood when requesting help with using the ORB Tools for the Mac: "The tools have not been working correctly for the majority of users. For some reason there are some who are using it without any problems. I do not know why the decision was made to leave the current version on the web site. The tools will do what you want, when they are working correctly. I apologize that this is not the case right now."

Mark Mason sent us a similar message from Castlewood: "We have learned that there is some type of fix that needs to be taken care of in the Mac ORB Tools and driver on some Mac computer systems - with Version 1.2. and 1.23. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved through troubleshooting. Castlewood is aware of this problem and is working on a new version (1.24 ) that is supposed to be up on our web site in a few days. Please drag the ORB Tools that you now have into the Trash and delete them all. Wait until the new Mac 1.24 ORB Tools are posted, and go back to the driver you were using before."

We find it hard to believe that Castlewood would send out such messages and, at the same time, leave the current versions of the software on their web site with no warning posted about any of this. But there you have it.

Meanwhile, Sean (and several other readers) report success with formatting ORB disks using InTech's Hard Disk SpeedTools.
