Instead of slappin' leather, you're slappin' cards. That's the premise of Slap .45, a card game that promises to be an absolute riot of wild west-style shenanigans, from the creator of hardcore tag game Humans vs Zombies, Gnarwhal Studios -- one member of which is Cards Against Humanity co-creator Max Temkin.

The game is described as "a simple slap game that captures the feeling of a classic Western shootout". Each of the three to seven players is dealt a home base card from one of the seven gangs in the game, each with six members and each of which has a special power: The Union, The Confederates, The Poncho Posse, The Comanche, The Lone Star Sheriffs, The Outlaws, and The Railroad Company.

The then get their gang members, one gold card, and all the action cards are placed in the middle.

"The player who can make the best fake moustache goes first," the rules read. "Starting with the first player and moving clockwise around the table, everyone takes a turn flipping over the top card in the deck, and then all players react to the card that's been revealed. Players may react on a turn until the revealed card is slapped or a player takes damage."

Reactions depend on the card drawn, but the crux of the gameplay is based around Snap-style slapping. The first player to slap a Big Gun card, for example, while pointing their finger at another player shoots one of that player's gang members, while the first person to slap a Gold card gets to keep the gold. the game ends when one player is left standing with gang members still alive.

"We've been working on Slap .45 for about a year, playtesting and tweaking the rules to make a polished, accessible experience with layers of deep strategy," the team wrote. "Playtesters can't help getting out of their seats and losing themselves in the game -- almost everyone who touches it demands a rematch."

You can reserve a copy of the game by pledging $35 to the Kickstarter campaign, plus $15 to ship outside the US.
