"This doesn't have to end in a fight, Tony," Captain America says to Iron Man in Marvel's new trailer. But a fight is what he gets in the battle between Earth's mightiest heroes, which include a new-look Spider-Man.

The "Captain America: Civil War" trailer released Thursday sees our heroes downcast at the carnage left behind when superheroes come to blows. Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, decides to support measures that keep superfolk in check. Captain America, played by Chris Evans, isn't convinced. And when a clash between Cap's buddy Bucky and Stark's pal Colonel Rhodes leaves Rhodey downed, things get heated pretty quickly.

Among the heroes coming down on Iron Man's side is Spider-Man, appearing for the first time alongside his Marvel mates after Marvel and Sony came to a deal over the character's film rights. Previously, your friendly neighbourhood wallcrawler appeared in his own series of movies separate from the shared universe of recent Marvel movies.

On Wednesday, Marvel teased the film with a look at the heroes lining up behind Cap and Iron Man. The Facebook pages for Captain America and Iron Man each released a teaser showing off their respective sides in the battle. Ominous voice-overs in each blend together shouting, "United we stand; divided we fall."
