Harry Potter's sequel will be more than a play. Expecto the book

Great news, Potter fans. The eighth book in J.K. Rowling's series is set for release on July 31, right after the play debuts in London.

Here is the unofficial cover for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," which will become the eighth book in the series.

Pottermore

The Wizarding World was ecstatic when J.K. Rowling revealed that "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," the official sequel to the Potter heptalogy, was coming to London as a play.

For fans who cannot trek to the UK for the event, there is more enchanting news. The screenplay for "Cursed Child" will be published in print and digital editions on July 31 in the UK via the Little, Brown Book Group and in the US via Scholastic, the official Potter site said Wednesday.

The release will follow the July 30 opening of the play at the Palace Theatre London in London's West End. You can learn more about the play and purchase tickets on the play's website.

The book will be released in two stages. The July 31 release is a "special rehearsal edition" that reflects the script that will be used during the play's preview period starting in May. A final "definitive collector's edition" will follow later this year.

The final edition will reflect any script changes that arise during the preview period.

The book's price was not announced.

In the meantime, it would be a good idea to dust off your wand and freshen up on your spellwork.
