Canon has finally taken the plunge into the touchscreen pool, with one of its new IXUS cameras taking the tactile challenge. There's also new PowerShots and an update to the popular semi-pro G10.
The new touchscreen IXUS 200 IS becomes the first camera from the company to be equipped with the technology, and it's probably the most exciting announcement in the range.
The rest of the cameras announced are incremental updates to popular snappers, like the 120 IS which was clearly influenced by (but doesn't replace) the 100 IS.
Advanced photographers will be interested by the update to the G10, the PowerShot G11, which reduces the megapixel number in order to focus on pictures with less noise and reduced blurring. There's also now a variable-angle 2.8-inch LCD screen. One more PowerShot is new to the range, and that's the S90 which takes a cue from retro designs by featuring a rotating ring on the lens element that can be used to change the aperture.
