Hey guys,

I know y’all have discussed this before, perhaps even with a Molly Rant or two :-). But the iPhone is finally showing up in the pocket’s of my least technically savvy friends; and MANY have come to me concerned that they have to stay in range of WiFi at all times or risk going over their data caps and incurring large charges. Most consumers have no idea A) how much data their phone will really use or when, B) how much they really pay for, or C) what happens when they go over. I am a pretty heavy iPhone user, but I rarely go over my 2gig plan even with Netflix and Pandora. Its tempting to tell people to get an iPhone from Sprint just so there is no question about limits! Even though AT&T and Verizon’s larger plans are more than sufficient for most users; people are NOT taking full advantage of their unbelievably powerful phones because they are afraid of their data caps :-( Would it kill Red or Blue to offer a reasonably expensive Unlimited* plan that had an 8 or 10 gig cap for the only extreme data hogs?

BE NOT AFRAID SMARTPHONE OWNERS!!! You paid for the functionality, USE it. You don’t not take a Ferrari on the highway because you’re afraid of speeding tickets.

Sigh… better.

Love the show!

Hey buzz crew,

It’s Chris again, the Verizon call center tech support guy. Molly, I feel the need to let you know about my countless issues with my thunderbolt because you have been talking about buying one. DON’T DO IT!!! Ever since getting gingerbread i have had tons of general sms failure error messages. Before gingerbread i had random reboots (still happens sometimes), and it would send text messages to unintended people even when making sure the recipient field had the correct contact… Very dangerous. All of these things combined with the fact that I really don’t get support calls for iphone issues makes me want to switch. As soon as they let us put the iphone 4s on our employee accounts i’m making the leap and selling my thunderbolt. I can live without 4g if the phone actually has software that is reliable!!!

Anyway, just want to shout out that I won’t be able to listen to your podcast until Halloween. I’ll be getting married this Saturday to the woman of my dreams and will be on my honeymoon the entire following week. I won’t want to return to work, but having two episodes of your show will give me something to look forward to.

Long time listener and huge fan of the show

Hi guys,

Hey anyone else notice, in the various Hands On videos going around of
the Galaxy Nexus, how slow the interface is to respond quite often – I
mean when people try to do complex things?

Even on my super fast LG g2x, Gingerbread is quite slow to respond to
clicks and swipes compared to my IPhone…

Is this an inherent Android issue?

Also when I type my usual speed or unlock on iPhone it responds
instantly with very high framerate. It seema Android can’t keep up -
it stutters visually on unlock (certainly not smooth) and typing tends
to lag then speed up. I’ve tried this on many phones in stores.

Any opinions? Insight?

Love the show.

Toby

Hi Buzz Town,
I was getting severe battery drain on my iPhone 4S. I am talking of a
4hr battery life, regardless of the screen being on or off. I have now
discovered what I believe to be the solution, if you have been using
Siri anyway.

Go into the Settings app. Under “”General”", “”Siri”", set “”Raise to Speak”" to Off.

I did this yesterday & then used my iPhone 4S constantly with videos,
video steaming & WiFi access and I reached 8hrs, double the time that
I was getting with that Siri setting on.

I think that setting was constantly checking if I had the phone raised
to my ear to speak to Siri. Siri is still on with that setting
switched to off, but I just need to hold down the home button to speak
to her, which is what I was doing anyway.

I hope that this helps others with iPhone 4S’s too.

Love the show,
Jodi the Senior Software Engineer from Australia.
